Touch The Sky*

MY GURU > MY SELF

Most of my life I have gotten , "Your head is in the clouds" dismissal treatment from people. I never fought that description. I knew it to be true. Now these same people put their face in a cell phone for hours a day. They are literally in The Cloud. It's frustrating living with bio-robots. Creative, free-thinking individuals are hard to come by. These days I prefer to have my feet on the ground and my senses on high alert. How did I change my perspective? Yoga.

Virgo persuasion does not have an Earth sign. My head has ideas I must follow, a curiosity not satisfied. One woo-woo of my yoga practice is to connect sky, or aether, energy with the ground, or the bottoms of my feet. The body is a conductor receiving and transmitting from and to the sky, balancing the load, running harmonically. The alignment of joints, bones, tendons, skeletal frame, nervous system and spine, neck and brain stem, the free flow of blood and hormones all enhance the energy transfers. Stand tall, shoulders back, breath deeply helps make me complete the circuit. For 15 years I have found yoga a healing technique for mind, body and spirit.

Americanized yoga has become breeding ground for bio-robots deluxe. In any yoga session a deep relaxation, suggestable hypnotic state is self induced. It seems to me, facilitators, guides, last of all, 'teachers' are a bossy, bitchy bunch. These types of 'jobs' draw micro- controlling personalities and having a group of people do as they say is dreamland. Meanwhile. the 'students' are reacting immediately to each command, subliminally 'jumping to'. People just love to be told what to do.

As in life, Coach Ditka, the yoga world is filled with caring, health conscious, lovely, intelligent people. It attracted me from the very beginning. I have met and learned from many wise instructors promoting body awareness, emotional control, and mind power. I listened with discernment, read and researched the points they made and took them as my own when tested and true. Yoga practice has done my life good. But to those interested, Buyer Beware. Like a refrigerator, you get out of it what you put into it, or you lose your soul and become robotized.
