Many are now profoundly dissatisfied with our Western certainties, But trying to emulate ancient cultures, however enlightened, seems not a realistic option. We can only work from where we are, Our religion, in its broadest sense, does at least recognize the wonderful mystery of each individual life. Here we are born into a world perplexing strangeness, not knowing where we are going, and perceiving through senses only the tiniest of fractions of all that is happening. Why so many scientists find it impossible to consider the possibility of being born equally mysteriously into some other life, some other body, some other environment, I do not know,
Yet while we have only the limited ability to perceive through the senses, we have the ability to conceive the whole cosmos in all its dimensions and energy manifestations. The notion of consciousness, which is able to conceive of itself, is at the heart of everything. A universe unobserved, without consciousnesses, Is impossible to conceive; nor is it able to conceive of no universe, of nothing. Between knowing and not-knowing, our finite minds are energized into ceaseless activity creating world of form and order from the infinite complexities of energy. Consciousness is not a product of atoms and cells, rather it is a consciousness that creates the possibility of conceiving atoms and cells.
At this critical point in human evolution, there is a sense of mankind coming of age..., and a new conscious acceptance of responsibility for ourselves, our society, and the whole planet. But there is also a sense of adventure in our evolving personal freedom, it is through the uncertainties of the future, and with new quests along uncharted paths, that we will grow, and understand, and experience abundance in life.
