Int'nl MENS' Day*

What this modern society seems to despise is someone standing up for themselves.  Someone claiming credit for the work done by them.  Quiet tolerance through drudgery is a slave mentality.  Among the girl talk, the shortest leash and tightest collar wins the last Bon Bon.

Shouting about Equality while standing on a pedestal waiting to be adored doesn't work for many men with a sense of self.  When the breeding and nesting is done,  when the 5AM alarm clock stops screaming, when the time of life is quiet contemplation, her demands are not important.

Love is fleeting. Love is fun. Love doesn't bind.

Crying has gotten to be such a manipulative game.  I've grown cold.  Too many ghost wolves.  There are tragedies and pain deserving of emotion.  As I see at least three women crying every night on my local news, I've grown immune.  I have to save my empathy energy for my loved ones.  Screen images are make believe, their story not mine, too many just plain made up. Women are not special.

Toughen up, gals.  Butch up, Sally.  It's a bitch out there.

... and you want to do these traditional male jobs like the trades or police/fire, do them well or don't do them at all.  The world doesn't bend to your fat ass needs and inability to work on a team.

Georgia On My Mind II*

Georgia On My Mind

One can't say anything one wants whenever one wants to say it. Freedom involves thoughtfulness. Careful thought will lead to mindful speech and then to to compassionate action. Too much energy is wasted trying to put angry words back into someone's mouth. Too much time is lost spinning those words around in our heads. Look forward, walk forward, think forward and the angry, the unmindful, the mean-spirited, the lost and frightened people surrounding you will not leave an impression.

60,000 thoughts a day occur. One out of eight are in the conscious. It takes work to regulate those instances. Imagine when delving deeper and confronting your own very disturbing sub-conscious? Thoughts in and of themselves are not good or bad. What rises to the surface is presented without a value system. It is you that decides what is important and what should be discarded. It is you that attaches an emotion in mental reflex. It is you that opens your mouth and shares it vocally giving the idea life. Once born, it has to be dealt with.

Thinking, Speaking, Doing. Thought, Word, Deed. All connected and consistent leading to a meaningful life. It's a hard practice with many shortcomings. Shake them off and proceed accordingly. The mind gushes, the larynx vibrates, the body moves and they all must have reason of certainty and a direction of purpose.

Hissy Fits*

Hissy Fits

Stay away from people that begin sentences with the word "You...", as in, "You think this... you think that..."

Another grown adult has left my life because he has no emotional control.  He made a 'joke'.  It wasn't funny.  Called on it, of course, blames me for having 'no sense of humor."  My clever retort, "Get fucked." His feelings were hurt.  Tough shit, he started it.

My life only began,in many ways, ten years ago or so.  It was then I failed the 'shit test'.  I broke down over the chiding, the name calling, the button-pushing, the meanness of it all.  They won that round and my life changed forever.  No more will I put up with anyone talking to me in a 'kidding' way.  No more, "Just sayings" in my presence.  I have no resilience for people who talk without thinking first.

I've been seperating myself from these kind of 'bullies', although 'bullies' is just name calling, too.  And I have learned the biggest victims of this society turn out to be the biggest bullies, so I have an understanding of their predicament.  No one has ever taught them how to behave, how to have responsibility in a relationship, how to be a friend.  Dumping emotional bullshit on another is simply a way for the powerless to feel powerful for a moment.  Only, I'm not playing along.

My circle of friends has grown considerably smaller, but the quality of people is so much higher.  I feel free to express myself without fear of snotty comments, or to enjoy a good self-depreciating laugh in confidence.  Insecure folks that 'shit-test' me don't get passed the first question. "Kiss my ass" flows fairly easily from my lips these days.  I don't need another jerk in my life.

Emotion Is Contagious

Surround Yourself With Kind People:

When the information was put into a traditional infectious-disease simulation, slightly modified to reflect the unique qualities of emotional spread rather than actual disease, the researchers found a correlation between an individual's emotional state and those of the person's contacts.

In other words, it appears that you can catch happiness. Or sadness. Moreover, the "recovery time" doesn't depend on your contacts at all, which is a hallmark of diseases but surprising in an emotional context, since continuing contact with happy or sad people could be expected to affect one's emotional state even after the initial "infection."

On the other hand, sadness is more contagious than happiness: A single discontent contact doubles one's chances of becoming unhappy, while a happy contact increases the probability of becoming content by only 11%.
