Why are Americans So Gullible?

I have some some family members who are literally shaking in their boots, absolutely terrified of getting this "virus". When I told them the whole thing is a hoax it was like stepping into a pool of piranha fish. Now they're bombarding me with hourly emails detailing how many new people have been diagnosed. They seem to be reveling in every new case and death, because it reinforces their opinion and "proves" that I am wrong.

While standing in line for an hour waiting to buy a roll of toilet paper, I asked myself why so many Americans allow themselves to be duped. 

Have you ever wondered about that? It's quite amazing.

We have an entire media comprised of television, radio, newspapers, magazines and the internet that has been outright lying to us about every single news story for the past 80 or more years, yet suddenly here they are, finally telling us the truth. 

And we're supposed to believe them. Of course, most people don't realize they've been lied to for 80 or more years. They swallow whatever the media tells them, no matter how ridiculous.

So what is it about humans that makes them so gullible?

One reason is an absolute faith in authority. Or so-called authority. 

I had a friend who was the poster boy for this. If I told him something, well, it was only my opinion and probably an erroneous one at that. 

But if someone in a white coat or someone appearing on television dressed in a suit and tie told him the exact same thing, then it was gospel, and couldn't I see it? 

I suspect tens of millions, if not hundreds of millions, of people are this exact same way.

Closely coupled with a belief in authority is a need to be accepted by others; a deep psychological need not to be criticized or ostracized from the pack. 

It's been said that public speaking is a person's greatest fear, but I think people fear social ostracism more than anything. Even more than death.

THE DOCTOR RACKET

I've had close to a dozen conversations with people who told me their doctor had given them a terminal sentence, usually between three and six months to live. In every case the conversation has gone like this:

Me: "You know, you don't have to die. All you have to do is make a few simple lifestyle changes. First, get off all your drugs and medications. Second, get rid of all your junk food and go on a 100% organic diet. There are other things, as well, but start with those two."

Them: "Oh, I couldn't do that. My doctor would have a fit."

Me: "You just told me your doctor says you're going to die."

Them: "Yes, well, I still can't do anything so rash as you're suggesting."

Me: "Do you want to live, or do you want to be a good patient and die?"

Them: "I'm sorry, I'm going to hang up now. This conversation is making me uncomfortable."

In every case they were good patients, doing everything exactly as they were told.

In every case they died.

Fear is the driving force behind blind faith in authority. It's what cripples people and prevents them from behaving in any way that's different from the crowd. Does intelligence also play a part?

I believe it does, although I do know a lot of otherwise intelligent people who swallow whatever lie the media tells them. After 9/11, they hung flags from their cars and houses, and were 100% behind whatever military action our president suggested. Over the last two weeks, they've been the first ones to rush to Costco, hoard as much toilet paper and water as their cart could carry, and then shout down anyone who got in their way or questioned the legitimacy of what the media was telling them.--

Questioning the media also takes time and work. It's much easier now with the internet, but it still requires a time investment. It also requires actual thinking. Yes, thinking can be hard work. Look how much easier it is to default to the stupidity of the mob.

It also requires personal responsibility.

George Bernard Shaw said, "Liberty means responsibility. That is why most men dread it." 

It's much easier to turn on the boob tube and let others tell you how to think and how to behave. 

A belief in the strength of numbers also comes into play. After all, tens of millions of people all believing the same thing can't be wrong, can they? History has shown us that almost without exception, yes, they are all wrong.

It's tough going through life while having both love and disdain for your fellow man. Love for their hearts; disdain for their cowardice, stupidity and refusal to think for themselves. 

Sadly, I don't see anything changing in the near or far future. That is, if we have any future at all.

It was the Night Before Martial Law

Let's take an old virus, say for the common cold,

And rename it in a way that's shiny and bold.

We'll bend both the rules and the law willy-nilly,

We'll call it a pandemic and scare everyone silly

Can you see the genius of our clever caper?

People are fighting right now over worthless toilet paper.

They're afraid of a cough, they're afraid of a sneeze,

They're pushing and shoving, and not saying please.

It's full-on panic, and we started it all,

Oh how we love to watch dumb people brawl.

Impeachment didn't work, no one swallowed that pill,

So we'll crash the economy and break the people's will.

And while we're at it, a little martial law won't hurt,

After all, the American people are nothing but dirt.

We'll take their money, their house and their car,

We'll leave just enough change to get drunk in a bar.

We'll use our latest hoax as an excuse to ban cash,

We'll turn their currency worthless, nothing but trash.

The people will go along, they always do,

Too stupid to question whatever we spew.

You say it won't work, we beg to differ,

We know how to steal, we know how to pilfer.

Doubt us no more, don't say it's too late,

We have a long history of stirring up hate.

We pit men against women, black against white,

There's nothing we like more than seeing people fight.

We control all the media, and Hollywood too,

The people will believe whatever we tell them to.

Take a look right now at the panic taking place,

By the time we're done, there'll be no safe space.

We rub our hands together and smile with glee,

The world is ours, and that's how it will be.

1/As a San Francisco resident and business owner, I'm wondering--can I trust the health judgments of leaders who let thousands live on the streets in their filth? And if we are now getting homeless into shelter, why couldn't that have happened earlier? Doesn’t their health count?

2/ All of a sudden we are supposed to accept 24-hour curfews "for your own safety" from people who order the police to stand down when Antifa & friends beat the hell out of taxpayers; people who refuse to enforce laws they don't like (death penalty, bail, property crimes) .../

3/ City leaders who literally give wanted alien criminals a public heads up when ICE is about to conduct raids are now telling me what's best, declaring a death penalty for businesses, no hearings or due process?! Forgive me if I don't fall right into line with the fascism .../

4/ which seems awfully situational. The Governor's suggestions yesterday that older and vulnerable people take extra care and stay inside seemed reasonable. Liberal city leaders decided to seize the opportunity and throw the whole economy into a tailspin as collateral damage .../

5/ but don't worry -- we'll soon have a government sponsored bailout for favored groups soon, funded with a tax increase crammed down the throats of the dwindling number of taxpayers. Homeless go back to the streets, illegal alien criminals get sanctuary, car break-one continue...

6/ Criminals continue to be released from jail or not arrested at all, and we all become more habituated, like sheep, to the loss of liberty yet again, "for our safety." I'm not buying it. I don't buy it with FISA renewal, with gun grabbing, or with this sweeping lack of process.

/7 SF Mayor London is tied to a corruption investigation of a federally indicted city bureaucrat she dated. San Jose Mayor Sam Liccardo mocked Trump supporters assaulted by criminals while police stood down. Oakland Mayor Libby Schaff tips off wanted violent illegal aliens ... /

/8 .... these are the Bay Area rulers telling 7.1 million+ citizens -- more than the population of many US states -- to stay indoors, shut down businesses? Great judgment, all of them.

Are You Sleeping Through A Revolution?

In one of his better-known speeches, Martin Luther King, Jr. urged his audience to remember Washington Irving's story of Rip Van Winkle, the layabout who reclined under a tree and fell asleep for 20 years. King stressed the hidden message that old Rip literally slept through the American Revolution. 

To King, the idea that someone could lie sleeping while the world transformed around them was absolutely horrifying. In King's words: 'There is nothing more tragic than to sleep through a revolution." 

Now King was a Communist dupe, and the revolution he was fermenting was designed to destroy America, but he was right: there is nothing more tragic than to sleep through a revolution.

As I type these words, a revolution is occurring, both in this country and throughout the world. The target of destruction is predominantly white men, but it includes anyone who holds traditional conservative values. If you're a conservative or even someone who sympathizes with conservative values, there's a target on your back. Sadly, the vast majority of those under attack are not even aware that they are targets. They're literally sleeping through a revolution.

Some of these individuals are beyond repair. The liberals who make up the Democratic Party, the protesters who march down the street in their pink pussy hats, virtually all of Hollywood and Silicon Valley ... That bunch can't be helped. The fires of hell await them.

But why do others refuse to wake up? Why do otherwise intelligent people fail to see the danger and fate that awaits them? 

Many are simply duped. Led by their noses, they believe whatever the gatekeepers of the right tell them. After all, if their favourite fake-conservative radio host or television personality tells them that race is a social construct, that vaccines are safe and effective, or that Israel is our greatest ally, well then it has to be true, doesn't it?

Because most whites and most conservatives are honest in their daily lives, they find it hard to accept that others who look the same as they do and who profess to speak to their same interests could be lying to them. The possibility is simply unfathomable.

This naiveté on their part leads them to underestimate the level of evil being directed against them. They think leftists are merely misguided individuals with an irrational hatred of Donald Trump. "If only those liberals had the facts," these conservatives like to say, "they would think and act just like us."

Fat chance. Truth and honesty are not liberal values. The reality is most leftists would like to see the vast majority of whites and conservatives dead and buried. Six feet under. Rotting in the grave. 

Exactly how these leftists expect the country to function once all the whites are dead is anybody's guess, as history has provided us with countless examples of cities, regions, and even entire countries crumbling into disarray once white people are gone. Indeed, if every white person in the United States and Canada were to disappear tomorrow, within ten years North America would devolve into the biggest shithole in the history of civilization. Try explaining that to your conservative friends. They won't be your friends much longer.

Trying to wake white people up from their slumber is a draining task. No matter what facts you give them, no matter how strong your argument, no matter how convincing the evidence, they will continue to believe what they want to believe. They're too busy binge-watching Netflix (not to mention porn) to be confused with facts.

I used to send five-minute videos to a friend of mine, hoping they would supply enough evidence of Democratic corruption to convince him not to vote their party ticket any longer. He told me to stop sending the videos. Did he watch them, I asked? No, and he didn't want to. He'd rather watch the latest Star Wars movie.

Prior to the 2016 election, a couple of girls at a Farmer's Market booth that I frequent told me they were both voting for Killary. I printed a couple of pages off the internet with details about Benghazi, the Clinton hit list, the Vince Foster murder, and the missing emails. The next time I saw them I gave them each a copy.

Two weeks later I asked if they had read the material. They both shook their heads. "Why not?" I asked. "I was too busy," one replied. "You could read those pages here in five minutes," I said, "while waiting for customers." The busy one shrugged. "If it was a romance novel, I would have read it."

Then there are those who want to believe, who actually do believe, but they're too frightened of being ridiculed or ostracized by their friends, family, or peers to do anything about it. The term "conspiracy theory" was invented for these very people in order to shame them into submission. Utter those two words and you'll see these individuals scurrying under the nearest rock. They care more about social status than they do about truth, justice or even life itself.

One of the hardest life lessons I ever learned was realizing that the vast majority of people on this planet are no different than sheep. They can be herded and controlled, and taught what to think and how to think.

Narcissism plays a part too, as most of them are too prideful to consider the possibility that they've been conned all their life.

As Gil Scott-Heron famously wrote, the revolution will not be televised. There's no need to televise it. People are too busy sleeping.
