I saw there was Gridlock Rally scheduled for Sacramento today, so I headed the van in that direction.  Of the 38 million people in California, I’d like to see the quality of protest, the quality of people who think House Arrest is not a government policy. I was pleasantly surprised in some aspects, profoundly disappointed in others.

I wasn’t too keen on the honeypot of protest, that is drive your car around the Capital several times and make sure your license plate gets photographed enough so they know where to come and get you.  I parked a half mile away and hoofed it in.  Scheduled for Noon, I was there before 11:30.

Why is there such annoying loud music at these kinds of events? 'Imagine' by John Lennon, c’mon, let it go.  American military music? These people are going to stomp on your backs. “This Is God’s Country”, afraid not Mr. DJ, the devil is running rampant. So, I moved behind the speakers for some ear relief and watched things unfold.

I have a long history of documenting protests.  I have been in a lot of crowds of protesters.  I have been in on the planning of fairly large protests. I have to say by the disorganization, the lack of program besides wave your American flag, and the general wandering around by all involved this was an ad hoc Facebook called protest;  Leaderless, no speakers or sycophant seal clappers like in a lefty event. White gas on concrete, as A. Cockburn once told me, but I'm sure there was a hand stirring the pot. No designated minority representation.  In fact, the only person screaming for their freedom were white people.  I saw no black, Mexican, Asians at all.  Yes, I would have admit some may have been there, but this was what those Diversity People call, a totally white event.  I think the blacks in this country want to be slaves, the Mexicans would never challenge El Chefe and the Asians are always frightened little assholes.

When the dozen or so bicycle cops, with masks on, roll up – they get an ovation.  Masked men with weapons are not usually acknowledged with applause.

I must say I was heartened by the role of the women in calling for the end of the lock-down.  Hysterical Women for Freedom. There were some very strong voices, one cynical might even consider them paid actors, but they were there.  Then there were the constantly muddled-headed variety, wanting to be so rebellious as to put their toe in the water.  So, she would have her American flag face mask (still not so sure the pandemic isn’t real, and obviously very fashionable) her complete outfit of Red White and Blue tennis shoes, scarf, hat and anything else, her signs of pleading (Please, give us back our Freedoms, please), and, of course, a Trump 2020 sign.  So, the guy that is holding you in jail is your Savior.

Don’t tell me the Stockholm Syndrome isn’t alive in well in the Good Ole USA.  This is one confused populace.

One of the more disturbing aspects of this, all protests have side issues that glue to the main point, but this call for the ending of the lock-down becomes a Donald Trump rally.  The guy that puts you under Martial Law, borrows 2.2 Trillion dollars to fund do-nothing white elephant programs or plain giveaways, through the advice of his Swamp Creature ‘expert’ is supposed to release us from our bondage.  One Trump supporter said to me, “It was Governor Newsome that put us under house arrest.” And, I guess, he was right. 

Just what I needed today - more stupid, delusional thinking.

The women and their muddle-headed thinking were represented by the ‘Recall Newsome’ signs, 100% held by women.  Still believing the system only needs better cogs and switches, they have no concept the next petty tyrant is going to be worse. 

As the afternoon went on and I started to stroll around the entire Capital Park, I realized the protest was much larger than it seemed.  One of the little things that make me laugh internally was the fact all the honking rebellious drivers refused to go against a One Way traffic sign.  Instead of completely circling the Capital and Park, the cars were serpentine around the city. ‘Go with flow’ certainly helped their Operation Gridlock campaign, in a city that wasn't going to be disrupted because they were hiding in their homes.

It heartened me to see the joyousness in coming together.  I saw hugging, hand shaking, greetings and salutations of kindred spirits.  All in all it did my spirit good.  I can complain about the muddled-thinking. I can see the holes in their arguments, and I’m scared as hell as where it is all going.  But I did see people walking on their hind legs and for that it was worth the trip.

With each day it is getting harder and harder for these so-called experts to defend their complete destruction of the American economy.

Since February there have been 17,229 COVID-19 deaths.

Another 7,676 died from COVID-19 and pneumonia.

During this same time period 49,013 Americans died from pneumonia.

And then there is the age gap.

There were 20 deaths under the age of 25.

That comes out to 0.1% of all coronavirus deaths.

There were 13,518 deaths over 65 years of age.

In a National Emergency, Does the Constitution Still Apply?

President Trump proclaimed a national state of emergency under the National Emergencies Act on March 13, 2020. However, nothing in that proclamation closed any businesses, confined anyone in their homes or infringed on any other constitutional rights or liberties. That, and other actions by the federal government merely cleared away certain regulatory roadblocks that could interfere with the government’s response to the pandemic.

By contrast, the orders issued at the state and local level have dramatically restricted the civil liberties of ordinary law-abiding Americans, shutting down all “non-essential” businesses, causing, at last count, 22 million Americans to lose their jobs, and confining the vast majority of the nation to their homes.

'WELFARE'

I've been disparaging of Presidential candidate Andrew Yang.  I may have to retreat a bit on my analysis of his main platform, being a monthly check from the G.  I must admit I have not researched any of his positions.  I only came across the Wages for Housework movement in Britain, and that growing into the Universal Basic Income idea as it has become.  Just for breathing oxygen you get money.  It is a radical idea, and I will give Yang credit for the proposal. He can carry his own water, though.

My interest is in solutions, not poverty pimp-dom.  It has been increasingly apparent to me that people in this country don't want to work.  They simply want enough money to fulfill their needs. What does any large corporation - which the US Government is - do when they have too many employees?  before laying off and skedaddling to Mexico, that is.  Typically, they offer an early retirement package, or buy-out of the contract you signed when you started to work there.  This country has a large segment of the population that is raised generationally in social democratic welfare alphabet agencies.  They have never worked for a weekly pay check, nor are they ever going to.  On the other end of the spectrum, people have worked their entire productive years contributing into Social Security and feel entitled to remove ten times the amount they put in in their lifetimes.  Either end put together, these are the unproductive of society, pay stub deduction type, the non-fleeceable.  They don't want to work, they simply want money.

There is a movement in Congress now attempting to "reform" (bend over taxpayers) the Pension Benefit Guarantee Board or PBGB federal law bailout for private and institutional pensions.  Many corporations have used this to escape liabilities in bankruptcy, the Board paying a dime on a dollar from other plans doing well in this economy.  They want to expand the margin to much higher %.  If your plan is doing well, funded at 100%, your plan has to pay more into the Deadbeat Club. Chgo and IL have plans going down in flames and Jabba the Pritzker, the current Gov, wants to combine all state plans into one, the floating, nearly fully funded downstate plan has to take on the liability of City of Chicago,  Cook County, IL. Some city funds are funded at 30% or less.  Public funds are controlled by the City Treasurer and mayoral appointees.  State, county and city funds are run politically, the result being an example of pillage and greed on the backs of those doing the work.  I wonder how the tradesmen and laborers left hanging by the bankrupt City of Detroit are doing.  Good bye pension. Kaput.

ERISA  - Employee Retirement Income Security Act is the law, I think Nixon put it in, with some legal protection for private pension agreements and guidelines.  Of course, made way too intentionally complicated, but generally run by a Board of a company and worker or organization of employees.  Direct contribution like 401(c)3, or defined benefit, a Taft-Hartley plan of Industry and Trades Groups. Money is never defined clearly as a contribution or a deduction on wage package. Most T/H plans are in better, if not good shape.  The public plans are Biafra babies of the economy.

My point being after they destroy the current pension arrangement by tossing the lead life preserver of public institutional investors and their fiduciary liability on the private debt side.  Socialism at its finest.  The State caused the problem, the State solves the problem.  The only thing left is Social Security and the clamor will be to put the people screwed out of their contractually negotiated pension by the State, to be placed on another G payroll, at a fraction of the benefit.  'Downsized', if you will.  A life time monthly benefit for all the old, disabled and lazy.  If only: 1) they pay for their own health care 2) buy their own food 3) find affordable housing 4) find babysitters for their children.  They can secure a job without losing the benefit.  They are responsible for minor children, in every way, schooling included.

Starting in 2020, every child born will be given a stipend put into his or her Trust account. Upon reaching the 18th birthday without felonious behavior, a check will sent.  Accepting the buy out, using the money to start a career or travel, or drug induced coma, there will be no Unemployment Insurance, no food stamps, Aid to Dependent Mothers, SNAP, or any other social program sponsored by G for that person's lifetime.  As time goes on all those Welfare Agencies will dry up. The monthly stipend would continue until incompetence or death.

The Ham and Eggers ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ham_and_Eggs_Movement) were a political party in California in the 30's.  Their constituency were mostly old gold miner types of Calaveras, Eldorado, and Placer counties.  Every registered voter got $30 a week, straight up.  What would that be today, as soon as I figure that up, I'll edit this post.  

A Universal Basic Income, with conditions of responsibility, is a radical thought.  With a little guaranteed bump in the budget, a person may quit that lousy job, leave that abusive spouse, might have the basics of a healthy life at hand.  It's a gamble that the joy of freedom will bloom.

Getting off the train, arriving in the big city, people were talking to themselves. Whether black, burned out and homeless or nicely dressed white women with earbuds, they were deeply into conversation, alone. One kicked out of the Matrix and the other furiously trying to get deeper, it seemed to me.

I arrived at the rally, on time, my fault, as the world is on Southern Black Time and nothing was doing. I watched a staffer set up her booth over and over again, taping her signs - "The Working Class Can Not Be Silenced" among others, as the wind would reconfigure as Nature will. When the female Adonis State Trooper appeared and stated the pop-up could not be spiked in the Capital grounds turf, it all had to be shifted just a bit, which started the process over again. I was an early observer and had nothing else to do but pee in the bushes, the work of Labor was never so obvious. Sisyphus had it easy.

The working class has been silenced and the voice of the Whining Class has been empowered.

At the scheduled kick off time, coincidentally, a team of State Horseback Troopers showed up drawing all attention. Labor does still scare them, no matter how weak it is. 

A ring of protest went around the Capital. Led by a bully with a bullhorn, haranguing people with Who are we? What are we here for? (a boxed lunch, maybe) and beseeching them to Fight Back, details unspecified. It reminded me of a cattle herd being prodded, with all the bleating and mooing, to the chute into the slaughterhouse. It is so demeaning to be yelled at by someone with a bullhorn.

Watching them I posted an imaginary rally:

May Day was International Workingman's Day. Political Correctness states International Workers Day. I prefer International Communist Plain and Simple Day, shortened to National ComPlain Day. I'm Black, I'm Black and Female, I'm Black and Female and Gay, I'm Bi-Racial Transexual and an Illegal Immigrant, everyone, I mean everyone, carry me along. Does anyone actually work? The Communist have no heroes. They stole the Haymarket martyrs, subjects of State murder, as an example of the "Eight Hour Day". Hell, Parsons, Spies and all wanted the No Hour Day. Communists have a way of taking a point, turning it inside out up-side down, presenting it as something new. They are very unimaginative and will die on their own, as this May Day and organized labor has shown. Socialist heaven is colorless.

A wet-behind-the-ears, just out of the box HERE organizer wanted me to sign his petition. He explained that the effort was to ask the employer to recognize their union. I said, "Ask? No, I won't sign your petition." He wanted to know why not. I'm sick of the same old stupid ways of going about things. I'm not interested in giving my personal information to your union so they can sell it to a company to email bomb me and call me incessantly. I also added, to the the youngster, it's not a real good idea to furnish a future blacklist to the employer. His response was to ask me, "Can you give me an example when a petition drive did not work?" I said, "Yes. Every time." "You are not going to sign my petition?" "No." And he went looking for another mark.

I was approached by a man in a white smock "Dr Berenson" stitched. Wanted to know if I wanted Health Care for All. My question to him was , "Have you been to the State Fair?" "No" "You should see the slice of life your getting into. They are obese, diabetic, and suffering from the pharmaceuticals that people like you have given them" (as I jammed a finger into his chest)." When I told him I wanted to be in a plan with yoga teachers, he called me "negative" and walking away from said, "your a loser." Calling him back a little later I said, "Hey Loser, show me any Identification that you are a doctor. Anything." He never met someone that called him a liar to his face. I'm finding it quite easy dealing with lefties these day, it's all about the spin, relative morality, the cause, or as Lenin might say "just lie." Facts are inconvenient things to them.

Lincoln freed those of Involuntary Slavery. You are more than happy to be a Volunteer Slave. I worked in the trades under the rubric, "You can quit anytime you want". I never took it as threat, in fact, I used the out quite often. I always knew I sold myself on a temporary basis, like a prostitute if you will. It seems we are in the days where the working-class has put themselves in a position, because of bad money handling and debt, mostly, that they can't quit. Now their voluntary status has returned to involuntary, and they can't recognize the invisible chains on their legs.

One lone young Wobbly, thankfully made my day. Just enough spunk to hassle the stupid "it's the politician's fault" pie card speaker. He made my heart fill with joy, someone else calling bullshit when they see it. I didn't go away defeated, just once again, deflated.
