RAGE ONLY INVITES DEMONS
I came out of the yoga studio and ran smack into a 'No Kings' protest. I thought I'd stick around, take a walk and see what many were saying. There was a strong line for the two full blocks before I turned back to an even stronger line back to the start. Many more gaggles sparsing down the street either way. 3000 people is my guess. Not bad for a town of 22,000.
When does a protest become a complain-a-thon? These good-hearted, well meaning. mostly unpaid citizens will go home and be content with themselves. They 'did' something to stop world-wide insanity we are living through. I did not see any organization leading the way forward. No overt Commie participation or inky newspapers, no anarchists/antifa/Keffiyeh types. Only a necessary police presence and no visible labor union support either. How 'bout the Ye Olde Third Party effort, again? Nope. POTUS DJT is an alumni of third party effort. Not a word of protest about Israel's role in world affairs. I'm not savvy to social media, but organizing through that method is, as Alex Cockburn said, "White gas on concrete". I saw many individuals with hand made signs, all with the tacit agreement that Donald Trump is an abject failure and I agree, in so many ways. Not really mingling, mostly acting out like needy attention seeking teenagers. It seems the main purpose was to cheer honking passing cars. No speechifying, Democrat Party representatives unseen. Is it a public display of Guilt Wash or People with Purpose or non-Equity actors on the scene? I did not see any infrastructure being laid to build a movement to cause systemic change. Anybody got an idea?
Several 'Make America Kind Again' signs were offset by one 'Donald Trump Can Suck My Entire Groin'. As I scanned the crowd during my two trips around the disgruntled, (Oh, where Oh where are the Gruntled?) it was obvious to me, the majority did not work or were on on some sort of Government support. It's a big generalization, but it's hard to make a point otherwise. A minority of indoctrinated State college students and many retirees, it was definitely an older crowd, and with that, walkers, oxygen tanks, vets, etc. All under doctor's care. Little grandmothers holding signs '8647' calling for the drowning murder of Don Trump. Kindness only goes so far.
When I first arrived I asked a woman with a 'No Kings' sign if a Queen would be OK. She said, "Of course, as long as he looked fabulous in a feathered boa."
Such is the state of protesting in America out my back door.
I'm at the age I wish to step aside and let karma take its course.
