SOLSTICE 2023

SOLSTICE 2023

The Sun will return after a short hesitation before heading into 2024. My heart is hesitating, also, I don't expect much good news this coming year. I don't intend to make prognostications; these are my observations.

*****************************

1) People are walking tombstones. Physical wrecks. Immobile and brain dead. All under Doctor's care. The Trump Juice is doing the job, DJT may be back to finish it.

****************************

2) Above the county level people are appointed. If you are so democratically inclined and participatory this is your arena - school boards, library boards, tax appeal boards, etc., along with jury selection. Anything else political in a citizens' world is gossip fueled delusionary stories hiding graft, kickbacks and finders' fees.

***************************

3) War will continue. There's is no opposition. It will stop at your threshold.

4) This National Forest I'm living in is dead. No one sees it or wants to comment on it. Every tree is in a decaying state. A still unexplained to some, mini tornadoes blow down devastated selected patches of forest in 2019. The dead wood has been laying there since with leaners everywhere. It's ready to ignite. We will all be dead in a night.

What a person 'knows' is what one uses their senses to experience. If someone has ever been teargassed/pepper sprayed, the slightest whiff decades later will activate the brain to get those feet moving. We lived within a short driving distance of the Santa Rosa and Paradise, California fires. Also, the Napa/Mt Atlas fires. We visited a sub-division of homes in Redding soon after the first-coined "Firenado". Selective is the word - certain homes remained standing, neighbors’ homes were burnt to the foundations.

The Paradise fire was too strange to get into here. One Sac Bee news photo had Trump, Jerry Brown and Gavin Newsome on a hill overlooking the devastation, all wearing their long, black Fordham, Georgetown, Loyola Jesuit overcoats. I'll leave it at that, the picture, to me, is eerie. Something big went down there, my news-dog intuition tells me.

The ocean wind blows from the west in Northern California 90% of the time. For two weeks after these instances the air would be polluted with who-knows-what. Many respiratory conditions on the ground, me included. I would ask long-time Californians, "There has been other forest fires, did you ever see smoke hang around for so long?" You know the answer I got. The same answer I always get. "I don't know".

The Lahaina wildfires. The Quebec wildfires. Instant hurricane in Acapulco. Hurricane Harvey does a three-point turn. No kidding. The West Coast will be going in the drink soon.

Uh Huh, Oh Yeah, I'm All Shook Up

Take me out in the morning dew, my honey...

So long, my Priscilla. xo

5) Mosquitoes have basically disappeared. Few turtles this year, fewer frogs. Deer harvest down 20%. I caught my first mouse in two years. Fishing sucks.

When I turn on my FM radio the antenna receives a constant pulsating wave of hum.

There is no connection between these two sentences. Discuss.

*************************

6) The Chocolate Cities are done. Remove yourself and your loved ones and get out to the country or anywhere else. Not another Chocolate City, not another city. Or get a gun and learn how to use it.

*********************

7) If it is not in the digital world, people don't want it.

A man with an acoustic guitar, a competent player, gets little attention. No curiosity in technique, styles, musical inspiration, they all have a million guitar players at their fingertips. And those digital guitar players play can any song they want at any time, even better. The one they are staring at is a one-off novelty act, a boxing kangaroo. Mentally shuffled into the 'how cute' category. They stand unimpressed.

8) A case could be made that every member of Congress that does not vote to secure the Southern border should be charged with treason, taken out in the yard and shot. Every Judge ruling in favor of the non-citizens. Shot. Every poverty pimp that takes on the masses, fails, expects the State to care for them then collects a paycheck from the State acting like they care. Shot. Every non-citizen that commits a violent felony. Shot. Dead. A case could be made for each.

Treason. Every day in this Nation.

*****************************************

9) When the Olympic Games introduces the category of Sitting On Your Fat Ass and Staring competition, Wisconsin is going to send one helluva team to the Finals. The bigger the ass, the longer the dead-on stare. We got some Hefties up here.

I'm all for releasing feral wolves.

*******************************************

10) People have been thinking artificially for some time now. Maybe since that first taste of Eve's apple, as the story goes. Fantasy has become fact. Consciousness has been collectivized. Individualism has never existed. Your true self is a piece of dust, on a rock, circling the Sun, along with many other physical bodies, in a solar system, one of million in a galaxy of planets, suns and stars in an endless Universe.

People have been taught a lot of bullshit.

***************************

So, I'll sit in my cave by the wood stove, alone, in the dark the next three days, contemplating coming Death in all its forms. What a coincidence that Sweet Baby Jesus, the Son of God, was born on the exact day that starts to add one more minute of Light each day, being reborn in the Spring, then lovely Summer. The Sun hasn't failed us, yet 2024, I sense why it's hesitating. It's going to be a bumpy ride.
