Leftists arm up?

My husband and I are Democrats, and we live in a large left-leaning city. Considering the current political climate in the United States and deepening concerns that it will only get worse, my husband wants to purchase a gun for safety reasons. To be clear, we don’t have general safety concerns. We live in the heart of the city, and I feel safe. He is concerned about political or ideologically motivated violence. ...

I think guns are evil, and I believe that the world would be a better place without weapons. But I would hate to regret not having a gun if things get so chaotic that people need to protect themselves. Should I go against my own beliefs because of a possible future threat? —Name Withheld

Pesky 2nd Amendment II

republished from May 22, 2019

"Let the enemies of the working class remember that any person who is arrested with a gun in his hands, without the corresponding permission and identification, is subject to immediate execution, and any person who dares talk against Soviet power will be immediately arrested and put in a concentration camp.  The members of the bourgeoisie must feel the heavy hand of the working class.  All capitalist robbers, marauders and speculators will be sent to compulsory public works, their property will be confiscated, and persons involved in counter-revolutionary plots will be destroyed and smashed by the heavy hammer of the revolutionary proletariat."
- Vice-Chairman Peters of the Cheka

The Monday Toll

So, Which One Was It?:

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) — A gunman opened fire at an Albuquerque fiber optics manufacturer on Monday, killing five people and wounding four others before turning the gun on himself in what police said was a domestic violence dispute.

...Schultz said the gunman was a former employee, but did not release his name.

(again, that obsession with naming rather than doing things)

Me and Joe Hill

Living In A Civilized Country:

About two minutes passed after the gunshots. It was long enough that I wondered (and some of my colleagues later said they wondered, too) whether Gardner would require a second volley of bullets to die.

One Lone Crazy Gunman (Again)

Bickled:

The 52-year-old taxi driver shot 12 people dead in Cumbria before shooting himself on Wednesday.

"Detectives are focusing on several key areas and are working to verify suggestions that Bird was involved in personal disputes with fellow taxi drivers, or others," he said.

One Lone Crazy Car Man:

The attacks began at 9:43 p.m. Wednesday on a quiet stretch of Harrison Street, near 23rd Street in the Mission District.

Witnesses said the SUV came speeding south on the street, hit the first bicyclist head on, and then hit the second less than a block away at 24th Street.

The driver roared east about a mile to the corner of 23rd and Pennsylvania streets, where he hit the third cyclist. Then he sped several blocks north to Potrero Hill, where he hit his last victim at the corner of Missouri and 17th streets and slammed to a stop against a light pole.

The driver ran away, witnesses said, leaving shattered pieces of his vehicle and a parked Jeep that he also hit.
