Win For Antiwar

The aircraft carrier USS Gerald R. Ford has withdrawn from Operation Epic Fury against Iran.

The nuclear-powered aircraft carrier USS Gerald R. Ford (CVN-78) has been removed from Operation Epic Fury against Iran for an extended period. According to Western media reports, the ship is undergoing repairs and will not return to the Red Sea or the Strait of Hormuz anytime soon.

The "burned" aircraft carrier USS Gerald R. Ford (CVN-78) arrived in Crete and moored at the US Navy base in Souda Bay. Commanders have decided to tie up the ship for repairs for up to 14 months. This means the carrier will be out of combat for at least a year. The carrier's air wing can still operate, but only in the Eastern Mediterranean.
The ship is reportedly experiencing significant technical problems related to the sewer system and the aftermath of the fire. Other systems are also deteriorating, as the aircraft carrier has been on a combat mission for 10 months. And let's not forget the ongoing investigation into the fire. It was previously reported that the sailors themselves started the fire in the laundry room, refusing to participate in the military operation against Iran.

Guilt Wash*

WAR BAD! PEACE GOOD!

"White gas on concrete" - Alexander Cockburn referring to Internet organized protests

*******************

Drove a bit to get to the anti-war demonstration. It was more depressing than I could have dreamed.

A couple of commies holding a too small banner in a stiff breeze unable to read at 30mph. I did recognize some gibberish at the bottom -socialismliberation.org. All I needed to see.

Parked and took the dogs for a walk, circled around, a dozen or so people showed up in the meantime, some wearing medical masks. Out comes the dreaded Big Brother powered bullhorn chanting some juvenile rhyme. Call/response, so robotic, unhuman. No five gallon bucket drummers, thankfully. Lots of selfies framed to look crowded in the background. Maybe 15 show up by now, Vets for Peace, more peace-niks.

They are acting out this demonstration at a fairly less traveled city intersection, a technical college campus and parking lots all around. Not a half mile from a state highway with high volume traffic counts, as if you are trying to get your message heard. They were complaining into a void. Playacting. The one police car parked down the street had something more important to do and left.

Parts of this little scene will be used in social media propaganda purporting to show the outrage of caring American citizens. There were a few naive good-hearted people that get drawn into these actions, but they are being used by the ideological organizers. It is the message and the image that they want, without the messy street fighting part.

It's a Facebook Revolution! Guilt Wash! Feels Good!!!

Anti-War News

The Great Myth of the Anti-War Left Exposed

Stephen Miller, a senior adviser to the president, recently dismantled the hawkish Counterfeit News Network when he told Wolf Blitzer:
“What I’m talking about, Wolf, is the big picture of a country that through several administrations had an absolutely catastrophic foreign policy that cost trillions and trillions of dollars and thousands and thousands of lives and made the Middle East more unstable and more dangerous. And let’s talk about Syria. Let’s talk about the fact — ISIS is the enemy of Russia. ISIS is the enemy of Assad. ISIS is the enemy of Turkey. Are we supposed to stay in Syria generation after generation, spilling American blood to fight the enemies of all those countries?”
Had Obama uttered these fiery remarks in ’08, they would have been the headline for many outlets that covered the interview. Instead, The Washington Post reported, “Wolf Blitzer tells Stephen Miller to ‘calm down’ during heated interview.” The Huffington Post ran with this headline: “CNN’s Wolf Blitzer Tells Stephen Miller to ‘Calm Down.’
Comments that should draw praise from the left have been met with mockery and scorn.

Reporter Quits NBC Citing Network’s Support For Endless War

https://www.zerohedge.com/news/2019-01-03/reporter-quits-nbc-citing-networks-support-endless-war

A journalist with NBC has resigned from the network with a statement which highlights the immense resistance that ostensibly liberal mass media outlets have to antiwar narratives, skepticism of US military agendas, and any movement in the opposite direction of endless military expansionism.

Waiting For Flying Saucers

Live Bait and Ammo #160: Waiting for Flying Saucers ?

UAW President Bob King and his corporate partners at GM, Ford, and Chrysler-Fiat will blame the competition they’ve rigged on workers and relentlessly degrade them into believing they are worth less and less as profits rise. That’s not a guess, it’s the drill.

History lessons must be revised before the profiteers of war and labor are able to con workers with the same old lies. We have to be literally vigilant. The most common words in the con man’s lingo are “free” and “lucky”. As in, you are lucky to have a job but you are free to quit if you don’t like it. Unless, of course, you’re enlisted. In which case, you defend freedom while the lucky sit home and collect dividends. The only reason we have enough volunteers in Afghanistan today is because there isn’t enough opportunity in the land of the free. It’s an old story.

When the Confederacy failed to acquire enough volunteers, they instituted conscription with exemptions for important people. Slave owners decided slave owners were too important to fight in the war to defend slavery. The Confederacy granted one exemption for every twenty slaves owned. Thus, a plantation master with one hundred slaves could have an exemption for himself, his three sons, and a nephew. It was, as workers said back then, “A rich man’s war and a poor man’s fight.” Men who refused conscription were hung. Their property was confiscated and friends and neighbors were warned not to help the draft dodgers’ women and children.

Today, working people in the south commonly sport the rebel flag. They’ve been conned into believing that the Civil War was about some principle other than the privileges of slave owners. Through a revision of history, they’ve come to believe that defending slavery was a war for freedom. In fact, the only thing free was labor. Slavery, which provided free labor for the rich, depressed wages for all workers regardless of color. White southern workers not only got screwed, they fought for the honor of getting screwed, and some of them are still defending that honor.

Sometimes the truth is too painful to admit. When facts defy our cherished beliefs, something has to give. We can reject the beliefs we were taught, or we can reject the facts and alter evidence to sustain beliefs that bolster a more glorious version of events.

On December 21, 1954 Marian Keech and a small cult of followers gathered on a hill expecting that the world was going to end and that they, the true believers, would be rescued by flying saucers. When the world didn’t end and flying saucers didn’t appear, Marian and her followers claimed that their faith had saved the world from destruction. Faith can dominate experience because beliefs are not bound by hard facts or natural law. The supremacy of belief over reality is self perpetuating.

We have our own true believers in the UAW. They still believe Bob King and his enforcers have our best interests at heart when they claim that concessions save jobs and workers have to be more competitive. UAW members who believe this Concession Caucus boilerplate are like the workers who fought to defend slavery while the slave owners drank sweet tea on the verandah and cheered them on. One has to wonder where they’ve been for the past thirty years.

How many more times will American workers be conned into “A rich man’s war and a poor man’s fight?”

A goldfish lacks foresight because a goldfish doesn’t have any memory. Every time he swims around the bowl, the view is brand new. The struggle against oppression is a struggle against denial and the tendency to forget painful memories. America invaded Iraq because America forgot the Gulf of Tonkin.

Morally Corrupt Society

Hang On Tight. The Ship Is Going Down:

I promise that I am not writing this because I am holding protests and no one is coming—these thoughts have been percolating in me for months now. (Note: Remember that old saying: “What if they gave a war and nobody came?” Well, here in DC I am living the opposite: “What if they gave an antiwar protest and nobody came?”)

Justice Served*

Chicago 26th California Courthouse February 25, 2010;
Sentencing of Ollie Anthony by Judge Diane Gordon Cannon:

" Mr Anthony, you are looking at 5 yrs. of time in the penitentiary for striking a well protected Chicago Police officer at an antiwar march on March 14, 2009. You have admitted your actions and have apologized accordingly. Duly noted.

While the overfed and underpaid prosecutor has made the hokey statement, "A single match can start a huge fire", the time and place of your actions, along with the neanderthal reactions of the CPD may have put many well meaning, innocent, and active citizens at risk from our cavemen protectors of social decency, the CPD, as it has been pointed out in opening remarks they are haunted by the ghosts of 1968 and are unable to withhold their fathers' rage against people using their civil rights.

Your father has testified that you have had mental health issues since the age of 10. This is nothing to be ashamed of since the vast majority of the stressed out, over/under medicated population suffers the same fate. On the particular day of the assault, you were not practicing your best health habits and were not following doctors orders. You were acting of not sound mind. This is heard by the court not as an excuse, but as a personal warning that society needs you to act with love and compassion. Unleashed, uncontrolled anger is not acceptable, but does not warrant prison time for this infraction, this time.

Your parents have come a long way to support you. Your friends have filled half the court room. Along with doctors and therapists help, I command you to lean on them during difficult times. I expect your parents to afford lodging if needed, as it is apparent they love you. If a friend called is unable to help immediately, I expect you to call another, and another, until you are surrounded with the love and support you desire. I can see standing in front of me a good person. I command you to research your condition and talk openly and freely, in an effort to help others with bi-polar disorder. If you look at your health issue as a way to help others, society will be better off, instead of actions leading you to my bench today.

Thirty months mental health probation could be a long time for someone dealing with the issues you have today. If you slip up and do not listen to my commands, return to mentally ill state of unwarranted violence, I can guarantee you only more compassion on my part. I do not want to see you in a cloudy, drugged up state of mind during this time. I want you striving to maintain a level, even tempered, thoughtful persona. Your parents and your friends want to see you this way, also. We know it may be difficult, but is necessary for all concerned. Your best must come forward, for 30 months, and the rest of your life. We know you will succeed."

Gambling In Casablanca?*

Soldiers Kill. They Are Not Too Picky:

"This is an isolated and tragic case, and we're obviously in the process of obtaining more information as the events unfold," said Defense Department spokesman Lt. Col. Eric Butterbaugh.

Just Like In Iraq:

"We have a terrible, tragic situation here," said Cone. "Soldiers, family members and the civilians that work here are absolutely devastated."

I'm A Human Being Over Here!:

A cousin, Nader Hasan, told The New York Times that after counseling soldiers returning from Iraq and Afghanistan with post-traumatic stress disorder, Hasan knew war firsthand.
"He was mortified by the idea of having to deploy," Nader Hasan said. "He had people telling him on a daily basis the horrors they saw over there."

*******************

Anyone tapping into EWS on a semi-regular basis saw this one coming. On one hand joining the military is defined in this culture as a "career choice" and on the other a slaughter by a stressed out officer is called an "isolated incident". No, it's a workplace murder scene not unlike the dozens that have happened in this country this year alone.

This government creates a huge, soulless killing machine staffed with brainwashed cogs, and is surprised when springs pop? The media spin is right on top of it explaining how the shooter must have been insane. I disagree. I say he is the sane one, screaming as loud as he can, trained as he was, pointing out the insanity surrounding him. He wasn't a cog, he was a human being and he was touched deeply by the human beings with PTSD that refused to be cogs and were deeply regretful of their actions overseas. He soaked it up and exploded. I did the same thing with the working people I was with, only weaponless.

It would be interesting to see just who he shot. Many times workplace shooters know exactly who gets the justice bullet. Were the fallen all "innocents"? I would conjecture they were not. They were trained killers going to do their job in a far off land. While I can have sympathy for their surviving families, would they have the same for the families of the Iraqis they killed? They are trained not to, unless of course, the humanity inside them hasn't been eliminated and it returns in the nightmare that is PTSD. Either way, those now dead soldiers were dead before they left for deployment. They joined the military to die, spiritually or physically.

Trust Your Government or Your Gut

Get Off Your Ass and Help Stop the Madness, Puh-leaze:

I should point out, however, that it isn’t just the president who makes our wrong-headed foreign policy, it’s the Democratic Party establishment, in coalition with its Republican equivalent. The entire apparatus of the party machinery, its leaders, and a great many of its most active foot-soldiers – including those in the media – are beholden to the War Party and amenable to its decisive influence in the world of Washington politics. As long as the "official" antiwar movement is merely the tail on the Democratic donkey, there will be no effective opposition to our war-crazed foreign policy, at least not in this country.

Gotta Trust a Man Named "Rockefeller". More lovely bi-partisanship:

But as we witness practically on a daily basis, hysterical demands for "protection" from various "dark actors" inevitably invokes an aggressive response from militarized state security apparatchiks and their private partners.

WASHINGTON (AFP) — The commander of Fort Campbell army base in Kentucky has ordered a three-day suspension of regular duties to focus on a spike in suicides among his troops amid concern over a wider trend across the armed services.

Good Behavior Never Changed Anything*

Don't Use Sentences Beginning With 'You'.

Sadly, our magic controllable world is an illusion bearing little relation to the one we actually inhabit, where bad things sometimes occur for no reason. But rather than come to terms with it, we stubbornly refuse to accept the entire concept of risk, hence our neurotic hunt for the nearest scapegoat the moment anything goes wrong - or even looks as if it might.

Anti-War Antics

I went to a County Circuit Court Room yesterday to witness a fellow anti-war protester get scolded for acting like a 'petulant child' in trying to cross a police line and show his banner to the war criminal, George Bush. I think the defendant was older than the Judge.

The court room was filled with petulant children, as the recipient of the alleged aggravated battery, the Deputy Superintendent of the Police Force, claimed he was "bumped" by said defendant. It wasn't exactly an F-16 screaming over his head terrorizing him, it was a man who collided with his Segway. That really must have hurt, Officer.

The Horsey cop, the other witness to alleged assault, showed up in his white shirt, very proud of his promotion in the meantime. He tried to act like he wasn't sufficiently prepped by the utterly cry baby like attorneys the City has on payroll to screw the little guy. Funny thing is, neither officer filed a report on this felony and the two that did sign their names to the accusing document were no where to be found.

The bailiffs, all ten of them, were a scream, hovering over the supporters with their bitchiest nun-like voice, scolding for reading, confiscating pencils, looking with adoration at the cops. I was wondering who is it they go home to and what kind of person would live with these gun toting bullies? First they disarm you coming in the court house, then surround you with people with bad attitudes and revolvers. I wish Lady Justice would take off that damned blindfold.

The Judge really stole the show as far as petulance goes. He was agonising internally waiting for this political show trial to end, putting his face in his hands, sighing audibily throughout, as if the golf course was calling and this was a complete waste of his precious time, as it was.. To his credit, he didn't have much use for any of the nit picking attorneys and cut them short often. He believed the cops without question, in fact stating that they had affection for the defendant and they were the ones victimized and endangered, regardless of their bullet proof vests, guns, horses and oak sticks. A person holding a protest banner - without behavior modification drugs running through his system and outraged that the mayor and the Cardinal, behind taxpayers protection , sat to lunch with a war criminal - he was the threat to society, but not guilty of aggravated battery of a police officer.

Sign me up for the Petulant Children Society.
