Bastille Day, Et Tu Soldier?

To Whom May He Be Addressing?

I just want to say that based upon my observation of a few dozen glowing faces this past weekend at the convention of Iraq Veterans Against the War (IVAW) many of whom qualify as name droppable because you have heard of them and from them during this despicable first decade of the 21st Century--I just want to report that resistance is the health of the people.

  1. That's more like it! Happy Bastille Day to you. I've spent part of it watching the the Battle in Seattle - not the Labor Beat version, but the Charlize Theron and Woody Harrelson version. As for Bastille Day, though it would be a few years after this date in 1789 that Louis would receive justice we’ll happily celebrate on this day the demise of all monarchs, nobles, potentates, aristocrats, blue bloods, bigwigs, capitalists, industrialists, moguls, peers, personages, plutocrats, dukes, emperors, gentlemen, lords, patricians, princes, royals, beau mondes, beautiful people, the crème de la crème, cultured gentry, haut monde, high society, jet set, privileged, upper crust, elite and gentile usurpers and gilt edged assholes. Thank you Parisian sans culottes for getting the heads,…er ball, rolling. Though the job is hardly done even now. We have too, too many Bastilles yet to storm. Let’s get on with it. Happy Bastille Day! - Thanks to the Rustbelt Radical for the inspiration. And may the Friends of Leon Berger continue to grow.
