Planet Earth - FUBAR

Dedicated To My Friend, Salih al-Iraqi of SANA TV/Baghdad:

No other profession calls on its practitioners to lay down their lives for their art save the armed forces and, in Sri Lanka, journalism. In the course of the past few years, the independent media have increasingly come under attack. Electronic and print-media institutions have been burnt, bombed, sealed and coerced. Countless journalists have been harassed, threatened and killed.

Cindy, You Have Earned My Respect:

A funny thing has happened on Cindy Sheehan’s long road from Crawford, Texas, to Martha’s Vineyard. Many of those who claim to lead the peace movement and who so volubly praised her actions in Crawford, TX, are not to be seen. Nor heard. The silence in fact is deafening, or as Cindy put it in an email to this writer, “crashingly deafening.”

HEY, WORKPIGS! It's Time To Share:

On the one end of the spectrum, Article 23 of the United Nations’ Universal Declaration of Human Rights declares:
Everyone has the right to work, to free choice of employment, to just and favourable conditions of work and to protection against unemployment.
In other words, the U.N. says that there should be essentially no unemployment for those who wish to work.
